Residential Apartment – Warsaw – Ciasna 50m²
Residential Apartment – Warsaw
To design clean, modern flat, yet cosy where the new meets the old.
The 2nd floor apartment is part of the building located in the heart of old Warsaw town. The building was constructed a couple of years after the World War II and within the borders of the former Jewish ghetto. To raise this block of flats, the Warsaw survivors used the bricks collected from the ruins of the ghetto.
We have decided to keep bricks exposed on the front wall in the living room to commemorate the hardship of the survivors. In the corridor, we have covered them with white paint to achieve that clean look, but in both cases, we connected the bricks with the upcycled steel.
The furniture in the flat is the combination of quality new pieces with inexpensive plywood as well as pieces made from repurposed materials. Have a look at the living room coffee table made from the upcycled cable drum.
